About Us

One street in Bengaluru, three generations.

Intrend Furniture began on a single lane in Bengaluru's old wood-carving quarter — where our founder, Rajendra Prasad, carved his first jaali panel by hand for a neighbour's haveli. Word travelled before the furniture did.

Today his grandchildren run the same karkhana, alongside artisan families who have carved alongside ours since the beginning. Every piece still leaves through the same gate it always has: sanded, oiled, and signed by the hand that made it.

1987

The first karkhana

Rajendra Prasad opens a one-room workshop in Bengaluru with two carving benches and a single order book.

1996

The Sheesham line

Our first full collection in Indian rosewood, sold door to door across Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

2004

Brass inlay revived

We bring the near-lost Saharanpur brass-and-wood inlay technique back into daily production.

2015

First showroom

A flagship showroom opens so customers can run a hand over the grain before it comes home with them.

2024

Third generation

Rajendra's grandchildren take over daily operations — same benches, same six families of carvers.

The Process

Four steps. No shortcuts.

From standing timber to hand-carved joinery, every piece passes through the same four hands it always has.

Season

Sheesham and mango wood are air-dried for months in our yard, so the grain settles before a single cut is made.

Hand-Carve

Floral and jaali motifs are chiselled freehand by carvers trained on the same patterns for three generations.

Joinery & Inlay

Traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, finished with hand-set brass inlay where the design calls for it.

Polish

A hand-rubbed wax and natural oil finish, worked in over several days to deepen the grain, never mask it.
